Nutrition & Exercise - Advice, Coaching and Therapy

"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food", Hippocrates (around 460-375 B.C.).

This well-known quote by the most famous ancient Greek doctor, founder of humoralism and the father of medicine is more pertinent than ever and becoming even more self-evident after decades of the steadily growing trend of chronic and lifestyle diseases. The direct correlation between nourishment and the development of such diseases has long been scientifically proven. We have gained an increasing awareness of the importance of nutrition and lifestyle on our health.

Nutrition is a highly complex issue and the countless theories surrounding it make it very difficult for many people to be really sure on how to eat healthily.

For years, I have studied various theories of nutrition, including non-traditional doctrines and have, like many current studies, come to the conclusion that nutrition should be first considered individually. Each person has her or his own path of life, her or his origin, affinities and physiologic terrain (or "biochemical individuality" according to Prof. R. J. Williams) i.e. her or his own metabolic tendency. That's why there is no „all in“ advice valid for everyone at all times. Several factors should be taken into consideration and last but not least  personal tastes and pleasure must be respected too since eating is an essential pleasure factor in life!

The reasons and objectives of nutritional advice, coaching or therapy

"It is hardly possible to maintain good health without knowing about the right nutrition." (old Chinese saying)

Several relevant occasions to take nutritional consultation, coaching or therapy are for example the classical desire to lose and keep weight, frequent indisposition and digestive problems such as regular abdominal pain, flatulence and bloating, diarrhea and constipation as well as intolerances and allergies, digestive organs diseases like Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, irritable colon and elevated blood lipids and blood sugar levels (cholesterol, diabetes). Some inappropriate states like fatigue and disease susceptibility also are absolutely relevant reasons for a consultation.

A further advisable reason for nutritional consultation is to optimize diet in specific phases of life such as pregnancy, lactation, infancy/childhood/adolescence, menopause, aging process, illness or sporting activity.

How do I proceed?

My latest specialization (May 2017 until July 2018) as a so-called "EMB®-Beraterin/Coach" not only allowed me to enhance and update my knowledge in nutrition science but also to refine my professional skills to advise you even more specifically and to attend you more effectivelly so that YOU can enjoy your own success soon.

The first step is an accurate analysis of your current alimentary situation (including medical reports if necessary) and your precise personal lifestyle. This can already allow to detect possible deficits and/or factors for existing disorders and we can then look for realistic solutions together. After clearing up important issues (if needed), we define personal and concrete objectives and fix the kind and term of the most appropriate consulting together. Gratifying results can be achieved with between 3 and 5 appointments within 2 and 6 months already.

I prefer to work with high-quality and effective food products and include precisely targeted dietary supplements in specific cases.

A change in nutritional habits as a complementary therapy can be a tremendous help to reduce symptoms or can even contribute to healing chronic pain and many different diseases, for example, autoimmune disorders (rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, systemic lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis...), deposit diseases (diabetes, tonsillitis, digestive disorders, fibromyalgia, arthritis, endogenic depression...) and elimination pathologies (ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease-COPD, neurodermatitis…). Some food products or food habits can be the sole cause of the disease, or one of many.

Both nutritional consultation and changing some food habits can greatly contribute to improving your general health and quality of life.

Even a few modifications in your habits can already have a huge impact.

Orthomolecular medicine (or therapy) also can be part of a holistic nutritional therapy or as an essential part of a concomitant treatment. It consists in taking tightly focused micronutrient supplements in the form of tablets, powder or liquids over a specific period of time. Micronutrients are about 45 vital substances like vitamins, mineral nutrients, trace elements, amino and fatty acids, of which only a few are naturally produced in the body. Most of them are essential i.e. cannot be produced in the body but have to be delivered by food or supplements. Certain conditions (pharmacological interaction, lifestyle, age...) can limit or block syntheses taking place inside the body, which can induce nutrient deficiencies and disturbances in metabolism. This can be corrected through well-focused dietary supplements.

My latest specialization as an EMB® coach allows me to support you in mental strengthening as well as physical activity.

I would also be very pleased to advise or coach you regarding detox or fasting to allow you to benefit from the best effects of these wonderful methods of prevention for health and fitness!

When diet is wrong, medicine is of no use. When diet is correct, medicine is of no need.“, Ayurvedic proverb.
